Violinist Hannah Goldstick, 16, a student of Primavera Online High School living in Chandler, Arizona, began playing the violin through the Valley of the Sun Suzuki Association at age 4.  A member of the Metropolitan Youth Symphony for 6 years, she has been the concertmaster of the Youth Symphony of the Southwest since 2015. As first violinist of the Perfect 4th Quartet (P4Q) from 2013 to 2017 she performed both solo and ensemble in venues including the Musical Instrument Museum, Mesa Arts Center, and Phoenix Art Museum.

In 2017, Hannah participated in the Red Rocks Music Festival Winter Chamber Music Institute and numerous masterclasses with prominent violinists.  In 2016 she was concertmaster of the Boston University Tanglewood Institute Young Artist Orchestra Program, and made her orchestral debut with the Symphony of the Southwest.

Hannah was a finalist in the 2017 Blount-Slawson Young Artist Competition in Montgomery, Alabama. Other prizes came in competitions sponsored by the Music Teacher’s National Association, Arizona Musicfest, Chandler Symphony, and Phoenix Youth Symphony.

A student of Jing Zeng of The Phoenix Symphony and James Buswell, Hannah enjoys camping, reading, drawing and watching science fiction and documentaries. She plans to attend a music conservatory in the fall of 2018 and hopes to pursue a career in music.

Samuel Xu, 16, is a junior at Arizona Virtual Academy. A versatile performer, he plays both classics and contemporary works with artistry that belies his age. He began piano study at the age of six with his mother, Hong Zhu, and continued to study with his father, Fei Xu, since he was eleven.

Samuel was the first prize winner of the 2015 IIYM International Piano Competition. His other piano prizes include winner of the Arizona State Music Teachers National Association Junior Piano Competition, the Arizona Young Artist Piano Competition, the Steinway Avanti Star Piano Competition, and the Arizona Musicfest Youth Piano Competition.

A Chopin National Foundation of America scholarship recipient for 2016-2017 and 2017-2018, Samuel made his orchestra debut with the Verde Valley Sinfonietta in May 2015, performing Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue. In January 2016, he performed Gershwin’s Piano Concerto in F Major, along with an enthusiastic audience-demanded encore, with the MusicaNova Orchestra

In addition to piano, Samuel’s artistic interests include drawing and designing computer games.
